About the Space
The CAFAM Contemporary Art Research Center, or CARCSPACE, is an academic institution that integrates archive collection, exhibition planning, and research. It is committed to building a new research platform that stays in dialogue with society while fostering collaboration among artists, curators, scholars, and art institutions in China and abroad.
The center studies and publishes on contemporary art through the lenses of art history, academic history, and current practice. By building research databases, working with international institutions, and inviting scholars and experts into long-term projects, it aims to expand writing, education, publishing, and public engagement around Chinese contemporary art.
CARCSPACE also explores new perspectives and methods for public cultural practice. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and research-driven projects, it connects artistic knowledge with social resources and contributes to a more sustainable contemporary art ecosystem.
